GENTLE DOG WHO WAS RESCUED FROM THE STREETS NEEDS A FAMILY - “This sweet girl was saved from death row in the nick of time, thanks to a devoted foster who first met her when volunteering at the shelter.”
chocolatechocolateboom sent in this story about Laila, a Pit Bull mix who was saved after being tied to a pole and abandoned in the Bronx. She is available for adoption through an organization called AmsterDog Animal Rescue. Laila is so cute, she has her own Instagram page. Here’s more from AmsterDog:
This sweet girl was saved from death row in the nick of time, thanks to a devoted foster who first met her when volunteering at the shelter. Laila is overly thin (44 pounds), but rather than lunge for food or looking for scraps on the street, she takes food gently, never with her teeth. She walks beautifully, without pulling and is completely house trained. Laila meets other dogs in a very civil way, dropping into a play stance. Giving kisses is one of her favorite pastimes; she even licks people’s hands as she walks past them on the street, so affectionate is this pretty girl. She sits on command, loves her stuffed bunny rabbit, tug of war and a good game of fetch; don’t be surprised if she hands you her Kong waiting for you to throw it. We love the way she cocks her head after sitting for treats. She is really cute, although she owns such a serious little face. Laila is a wonderful cuddle bug who loves to crawl on my lap, or put her head on my husband’s foot for a pillow. Although Layla was found as a stray, she is a true princess, deserving of the most loving home. Will you give her true fairy book ending she deserves?
Laila is spayed, up to date on shots and micro chipped too. Please contact AmsterDog at 917 689 8414 to meet lovely Laila~ and thanks for caring about a dog in need!
I haven’t been thing angry over an auction posting in a long time. Please share & signal boost this poor old guy with the hope that someone can give him peace in his final days, or have him humanely euthanized and save him the terrible death that awaits via slaughter. 35 years of loyal hard work, a personality solid enough to have been a loyal summer camp horse who is surely remembered fondly by countless kids… And dumped in a slaughter pen because at 35 his age finally caught up on a mountain trail ride.
I hate people, I hate then more and more every day.
Listing as posted by the auction:
If this had been a “S” month, Nicholas would be named “Saintly”. This old boy is said to be a Quarab and we were told that he is 35 years old. He has spent his life being a good boy and was used as a kids camp horse and in the trails. He could not keep up on his last mountain ride and so his owner brought him to the kill pen today. He is 15.2hh, in good weight and pretty sound. He gets along well with others and does everything asked of him. His feet look good and he picks them up easily. Nicholas is a good old boy that is friendly and anyone can ride.

This is Lucille.
Lucille is a 6 year old black and white spayed female domestic shorthair cat. She is available from the Michigan Humane Society in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
She is a shy who enjoys affection, but does not like living in a shelter and is frightened. She uses her litter box and has successfully lived with other cats in a previous home. She would probably prefer a relative quiet home, but will warm up to her new people.
Check out Lucille’s page for more information on her, including how to meet her or apply to adopt her.
